Job Description:

Raritan Valley Community College has an anticipated opening of Director of Children’s Campus.

The Child Care Center director reports to the Vice President of Finance and Facilities, and has responsibility for the child care program. This position will be responsible for providing exceptional service to not only the children of the Raritan Valley Community College employees and students, but the external community as well. The Director has responsibility for the total operation of Children’s Campus. The Director manages 3 full-time teachers and between 10 and 35 part-time student workers.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the day to day operations of the Children’s Campus Center for the RVCC and external community.

Research and propose new programs and activities for the Children’s Campus which will foster an innovative and effective environment for children and which builds enrollment.

Develop curriculum and ensure the appropriateness of activities which implement the curriculum.

Coordinate with various College departments to incorporate resources into Children’s Campus.

Plan, organize and direct all phases of a parent program including; conferences, planned parent meetings, parent observation and participation in program planning.

Responsible for the fiscal management of the Children’s Campus.

Responsible for the maintenance of the NJ State Licensing.

Develop policies and procedures for effective operations and ensure staff compliance.

Responsible for the recruitment and hiring of full and part-time employees.

Coordinate an effective program for recognition; apply and explore grant funding opportunities.

Implement and provide training to staff regarding the various operating policies and procedures including program activities; conduct monthly staff meetings.

Coordinate with various social service agencies to provide care for children of clients who attend RVCC for regular and special programs.

Responsible for all correspondence and inquiries about the Center.

Create written recommendations to the administration about staffing and make certain that the Center meets regulations and standards for health and safety.

Responsible for the delivery of administrative duties.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • NJ certification, Baccalaureate and Master’s degrees in related field required.
  • Must meet standards as outlined in the Manual of Requirements for Child Care Centers (NJ State Licensing Code for Child Care).
  • Experience will include relevant employment in progressively responsible positions, strong supervisory and organizational skills, and a genuine commitment to quality, creative child care.
  • This position requires the ability to manage a large center; strong leadership and organizational skills, patience, flexibility, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to provide leadership for a learning-centered environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in order to represent the Center to prospective clients and must be able to work with children, parents, staff and the community effectively.
